Why redesign?
Old member page has private and public items on display and a large login bar menu
-
Improving performance - member page is crowded and built on old technologies;
-
Fulfilling user expectations - default social media look for e-comm sites does not cut it;
-
Clarifying UoU experience - private and public member information mixup is confusing and a large login bar menu is overwhelming;
-
Matching state of the art - the product looks outdated and doesn't match industry standards.
Phase 1
Making Members Area app faster
Changed app editing experience
Wix Editor, Wix Studio experience
The old member content management took place in side panel
NEW
Only one member page left on the site. Member page content is managed through the member page menu.
The app's performance had to be improved by using new technologies, which also resulted in changing the member page navigation component and the app setup experience.
Phase 2
Reorganizing member content
"When I think about members, I think about the account page Google has. That is what we expect."
- Wix user
Acknowledging e-comm user needs
Live site experience
Settings page - a safe space for members to manage their account
A standalone page for a member to manage their bookings
Relocating private member information and settings from profile-style page to separate pages matches industry standards and provides e-comm sites' reliability.
Clarifying and simplifying UoU experience
Live site experience
Profile page with only public info to be shared with others
Keeping login bar items to a minimum amount
The profile page now only holds public information, and is additionally installed on the user's site only if they have Wix community apps on it, such as Forum. Login bar menu holds minimal selections by default.
"I was appalled that the user had 20 things listed on it... I'm like, my God, they reorganized everything that I hated about it."
- Wix user feedback
Measuring the outcomes
Positive user feedback and improved performance
All of the changes made in design have resulted in:
-
The app now loads faster and is more stable.
-
Users who tested the beta version of the product loved how clean and less overwhelming it looks;

Turning product limitations into performance improvements
Live site, Wix Editor, Wix Studio experiences
The setup changes in phase 1 came with limitations - the followers option can't be shown in this menu, although it is enabled through it, causing confusion. I redesigned the list to replace the old, slow list in profile to a new solution, to be built with new technologies.
The followers list was added through the member menu, but wasn't visible there. Follower counters needed enabling, too
NEW
Updated followers list can be set up in just a few clicks
Slowly-loading old followers list used to appear as one of the options in member's profile
NEW
Optimized followers modal that also reflects industry standards
